And the moral of the story is...
« on: April 18, 2005, 13:45:56 »
Put the courgette seeds in 3" pots in the airing cupboard. Checked once a day.

Nothing visible yesterday.

Today:

Courgette No. 1....... 4"     tall
Courgette No. 2........ 2.5" tall
Courgette No. 3........ underground.

Oh heck. Have I any chance of salvaging either of the skinny etiolated pair, or would I be better starting again?  I've got some spare seeds.

So, the moral of the story is - check your airing cupboard more than once a day!

I am a softie and always cling on to my eliotated charges, give them a bit of tlc and hope they will come good.  Courgettes are quite tough so I would have a go.  Nothing ventured .....  :)

a bit less tlc Wardy!

Cool them down a touch and give them light:  they'll be fine.
Good gardening!

Clayhithe     I have some out in my growhouse outside and they are leggy too but not being cossetted.  I think they will all be ok.  Get what you mean about the ones in the house.

I'm doing the yellow patty pan type courgette "Sunburst" again.  It's absolutely delish.  I cut them when they are about the size of a golf ball

Thank-you both.

I'll give my stilt-like charges a chance, and put them in the greenhouse for a  cool off...

I'm glad I read this thread - stepped up my checking as a result.
This morning had three courgettes poking through (just) so whipped them out of the propagator onto the staging (and shuffled three tomato pots in to replace them!)
