We are all waiting for news (good we hope) abut Seren.

Seren's home, yesterday evening 
I still have to keep pinching myself! I didn't want to say too much at first just in case.

Thursday it wasn't looking too good for her coming home, her blood sugar dropped wednesday night so they increased her iv rate. The vet didn't want her returning until her levels had been stable for a minimum of 12 hours, plus it could also indicate there was more of a problem than sepsis. It seemed like an eternity waiting for her to ring back, but when she phoned that evening it was unbelievably all good news, Seren had stabilised and should be ok to return Friday. Plus the cherry on the top,  she had asked for Seren's tests to be fast tracked and the results were back. No long term underlying illness, Seren should make a full recovery 

I can't tell you how over the moon and excited I was, I thought I'd finally get a decent nights sleep but I was awake at 4.30 too excited to sleep any more!

I'm so impressed with the Vet and all the team in Bristol, they have to my mind been outstanding. From continually reassessing the situation when results weren't conclusive or what was expected, to hand feeding Seren chicken, to keeping me informed and updated throughout and even making sure she had a soft toy for company and encouraging her to have a little game when she felt well enough. I'm so grateful for Seren to have pulled through and be home with me, They were all so very sweet with her and I'm sure it made a difference for her and her recovery, she really was comfortable with the staff and didn't stop wagging her tail as they said goodbye.

Seren's had a good day today, bed rest mostly with little toilet walks round the garden. She's been happy to sleep much of the day and has eaten two meals and a snack. We've had some lovely cuddles and she's been giving me lots of licks and kisses, she looks so happy to be home.  Her evening medicines really seem to knock her out and she is fast asleep at the moment.

So pleased for you and Seren.  I must say, my experience with the animal hospital was brilliant, and the local vet.  I would like to mention Wood Street Veterinary Hospital, in Barnet and my local vet in Rosemary Avenue, Enfield. Hopefully we will sleep well tonight.

Very happy for you.  Doesn't she look lovely fast asleep in her 'doggie-grow'.  Do you have to take her back again for check-ups or is she home for good.

Well hope all stays on course and she will be back to her old mischievous self, long before she needs to 'help' you dig potatoes this year.

Yes, they thought she would be much happier in a shirt than one of those horrid collars so they popped her in one before I collected her. So far so good, she has been a real poppet and not bothered her tummy although she does lick her legs as they all seem to have shaved patches on them! One of her front legs is a bit red but doesn't seem to be getting any worse. She's got shaved patches all over, bless.

No, they don't anticipate any need to see her again    But she goes to our vets next week for a check up and then again seven days after she finishes her antibiotics for her urinary infection, to check that has cleared too.

Lol, i'm sure she won't be shy in coming forward to help, if not saffie is pretty hot on being 'helpful' too

She does look pleased and I don't blame her, but it's not half as pleased as I am she's home! I really didn't think she was coming home for a while, even the lovely vet in Bristol admitted she had thought the same!

Seren's been such a good girl, really great about having her little doggy grow on and off. She doesn't mind at all when I do the poppers or bend her little legs to fit in the arm holes. I've been checking the wound each day and it looks to be healing well, the little suit is doing a lovely job of keeping it clean but also letting the air circulate. I'm not sure where the spleen is (around the liver I guess) but she has a huge long scar. It's amazing how quickly she is healing, she's even put back on a little of the weight she lost. She's taking more of an interest when we go round the garden on a pee stop, though she still sleeps for long periods. Animals are just so amazing. 

She's off to the vet's for a checkup tomorrow, it's a shame she's not keen on the car, makes it harder than it needs to be for her.

Most dogs love going in the car but we had a problem with Meggie when we changed to a Zafira.  She couldn't see out of the back!  In the end she got used to it and when we were packing the caravan and car the day before going on holiday, she would sit in the open boot, with her ball, for hours.  Perhaps Seren is associating the car with bad things.  If Seren doesn't like the boot of your car, you could always buy her a seat belt so she can sit on the back seat.  She may be better like that.  Maybe lots of nice outings would make her change her mind.

Luckily, despite all the recent tests she's had done and being away from home, she is still loving visiting the vets and can't wait to get inside and have a fuss. It's just travelling in the car she's not keen on, she reluctantly tolerates it! She's always had lots of nice outings in the car (beach, park etc), sometimes we just sit in and have a few treats and then back out without going anywhere, or just start the engine without going anywhere. She will take a treat while we are moving now so she is getting less stressed by journeys.

I'm not sure why it is, she disliked it from the off, might have been the stress of being separated from her home and family, though she seemed to handle it quite well. Perhaps it was the distance she had been traveling back and fore to the vets for puppy injections etc before she came to us. She's never been sick in the car so I don't think it's car sickness. You're right she does seem better traveling on the seat rather than the boot, just not always possible.

I'm definately looking for a harness for her to wear while on the seat.

Seren went back to the vets on tuesday for another checkup and for a urinary sample to be taken and sent off for examination. Just had the results, it's all clear, no sign of infection lingering there either 
It was so hard leaving her there for the day, though happily she was more than willing to trot off with the vet, and didn't give me a backward glance. When I was leaving her when she was poorly, she wouldn't take her eyes off me and the look she gave was gut wrenching!

Picture is Seren just before she could have her onesie suit off, she was so good not trying to get at her stitches, she did lick her shaved patches on her legs quite a bit though. She still on supervised (lead only) exercise, but able to do more and more and I don't think she can wait until she is able to have a good run around.

Thank you, lol she's been loving all the extra attention she's been having. I told her the fuss and pat was from you and she seemed to totally understand and wagged her tail even more than usual
