the bloke I get my chippings from.
« on: July 29, 2012, 12:08:02 »
You will know him as Geoff Huges aka Eddie Yates, Onslow and others, has sadly passed away with the dreaded big C. He had  a wood chipping and mulch business just up the  road from me. Alway good for a laugh and really into the green revolution.

He would give up his time and attend all the garden shows to do the mock auctions, raffles etc and also display his logging and chipping machines giving demonstrations. Will miss him lurking around the whiskey display in Sainsburys where we would sometimes compare brands.

Did not know him at all but sad for you and his family and friends.
Just hope that it was peaceful.

How sad.  I remember him as Hyacinth's brother in law in Keeping up Appearances and he was also in the Royle Family.  He was very funny and it seems like he was a really nice man.

I'm sorry to hear that (although slightly amazed at Ace's name-drop there!!!). I used to love him in Coronation Street many years ago. A very natural type of actor (although apparently had green fingers too!) and seemed like a nice fellow too. What a shame.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

How lucky for you to know him.   So good acting on t v.   Watched him in interviews and he came across as one of the good guys.  Many thanks for posting this.

I thought he came across as a real character. Loved him as Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat, too  :)

He was always Onslow for me.  I sure he will live on.
