Courgettes in Growbags
« on: February 29, 2012, 17:42:22 »
My daughter has just got her first place and is getting very interested in growing some veggies. She doesn't have a proper plot (yet!) and was asking me about growing courgettes in growbags. I tried a few years back but the results were dissapointing. Can you get good results? any tips appreciated. TC

Grow bag is not really big enough to support lush growth on courgettes. They will need more compost and room for their roots. You could try growing in multipurpose compost bag (about 75 litre size) that is cut half..not the long way half but across, so you get two short but deeper 'grow bags'. Those should do for courgettes...one plant per half bag. They will need extra feed as the plants grow on.

And plenty of moisture , those multi-compost bags take a lot of soaking.
