Due to the hot weather we are seeing an increase of britains only poisoness snake the Adder. Just in the past two weeks we have had news of two pet dogs having to be put to sleep due to adder bites. One was being walked on a nature reserve the other playing in his own back garden. Adder bites are not always fatal to pets if caught on time. The problem being the pet may have been bitten hours ago and the toxin builds up in the system shutting down organs. So If your pet seems listless or excessively sleepy please check him for teltale tiny puncture wounds which could be an Adder bite. Please pass this on to all gardeners, pet owners and allotmenteers to watch out for Adders. These two pet fatalaties where both in essex.
