Where are my onions?
« on: May 18, 2011, 12:32:20 »
I planted some onion seeds a while ago but nothing has come up.  Am I too impatient or has something eaten them do you think?  In which case I can stop watering the area and plant something else.

I can imagine it's been a dreadful spring for getting alliums going outdoors in the flat.... it's why I always do mine, even spring onions, in modules, otherwise it's possible you know too much about their momentum....

Please qualify " a while ago"... sometime onions are slow. But to be honest, I have never managed to grow from seed,  maybe that only works if you have a proper seedling area in a greenhouse?? Just in ground, never even  been able to do spring onions.

I put some in about three weeks ago, under a layer of sand and then glass... they were markers for parsnips.. which are also now up... but I watered under the glass every other day or so to keep it damp...
