Mouse nest in compost bin
« on: September 26, 2010, 00:21:02 »
Two weeks ago I found a mouse nest in the compost bin.  There were about eight babies (no mum) and they were all alive and well. Still very small and hadn't got their eyes open.  Qustion !! How long till they can run away.  I just covered the nest back with some grassy stuff.  When they can run away they will have to take their chances with the cats.  They were very pretty.

I think it only takes a couple of weeks.  Grass snakes might still be in the compost piles too so if you can leave it a few more weeks still to be on the safe side.
