For the time being these two features are not available - they will return once the main forum is stable.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Hopefully the member map and chat are back online, membermap is rather fancy - I'm not sure I like chat !
Let me know what you think.
Oh yes - unfortunately I've not had time to convert the member map pins, if you want to add yours again then please do, otherwise I'll try to get round to it soon.
Cheers

Definitely not keen on the Chat. As a simple person, it is too complicated to use easily. Tis faster though.
Takes ages to get on ,having to wait or the Java Applet to load etc.
And I would love to place my pin for you, but it won't let me Boohoo :(

Really do not like the new Chat Room at all. Have to wait ages for the thing to start, load the Applet and then all I get is a blue page where one is supposed to enter ones Nickname, but nothing happens when you do. Then I cannot get out of that page without closing the site altogether.

Must admit that I have to agree with Palustris and the others about the chat room. Not to my taste at all. :( I think I'll stick to PMing from now on.
Eileen.
P.S. When I try to get into A4A I quite often get a message saying the server is busy and that I cannot access the site plus a message saying to try again later. :'(

I've made some improvements (honest) so now you should not have to login - you will have your username automatically.
To enter the chat you should just have to click the chat button at the top of the screen (by the calendar etc buttons).
If you have any problems let me know and I'll try to help.
Cheers

I think I was a little hasty in slating the new chat room. Just had a wander around on my own and fiddled with everything and it's not as complicated as I first thought. Just takes a bit of getting used to. Certainly is faster!!
Only one thing - is there any way of making the print larger as it's a bit on the small side? Quite like the sounds as I think they could be fun!!

Eileen,
If you right click in the main window - where the text appears - then you can choose Increase Text Size !
Glad you are growing to like it more - or dislike it less ...

As it is ***ing down with rain, thought I would have a little mosey around the new Chat Room, just to see how it works. Clicked on the Chat button at the top and all I got was a blank screen with a 'float' button at the bottom and a link to 'terms of use'. Couldn't get any further - HELP >:( :)

Hi,
If you leave it a little while you should see the chat appear. How long it takes depends on how you connect to the internet.
Are you on Broadband or dial-up ?

Click chat - and then give it about 1 minute, see if the chat comes up (don't worry when you get in it will be super fast!)
If not we'll try something else.

If it is not working, you may not have java installed - you can install it automatically from here,

Good luck !

Hi! I think the new chat is wonderful. It's faster, better looking and generally better. Long may it continue! And thanks for getting it back so quickly Dan!
On the other hand I'm not so keen on the new member map. If everyone puts pins in we won't be able to see Britain! Just a little niggle there!
Happy Christmas, Plocket

You can zoom in on the member map by choosing North-West Europe.
Also if it does get to busy I can easily add maps - and not loose the position of the pins !
It is quite nice to be able to see a world view of everyone (when the pins are added).
Hope that makes sense !
Cheers

I will be great to see a world view, when people start putting their pins in! I used just Europe before so am about to go and look at NW Europe..... Oh yes that's much better - I'm not sure my pin is in quite the right place though! Thanks Dan!

Still cannot get it to allow me to place a pin. A black cross appears, I click where I think I live and then it says I have to place a mark on the map.
