Hi Widget  Looks like Lobelia Cardinalis to me.  If it is watch it for slugs and snails they will devour it in no time at all.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

On another thread someone suggested a green with envy emoticon, I could do with it right now.  I have been trying to grow one of these plants for years.  Bought plants, tried seed.  I think our slugs have a taste for it.  Such a lovely plant so different from its tiny ground hugging cousins.

It is beautiful isnt it.  I had one growing in the bog garden for a few years before it succumbed to the slugs  :'(

It's not fully hardy so if it was me, I would keep it in its pot and try to over-winter somewhere frost free but not let it completely dry out and then repot with new compost once its showing signs of new growth next year, probably late March
