Big & little sweetcorn
« on: July 28, 2010, 11:28:49 »
Can anyone help me here.  I have a sweetcorn bed in which I planted 6 normal size corn and about a dozen of the mini corn.  The have all come up lovely, the big sweetcorn has the flowers at the top and lots of cobs on each plant and is about 4-5 foot high but the mini corn is about 6ft tall (mini huh) with no flowers or cobs.  What is going on here.  Lots of leaves on the mini ones which are lovely and healthy looking. Heeeeelp

my mini corn doesn't have flowers on it either

someone will be along in a minute who's an expert - but you're not supposed to mix different types of sweetcorn - they cross-pollinate and you get poor corncobs.
The good news is the mini corns don't need pollinating, so whip those tassels out as soon as you see them and you should be alright
