apple trees
« on: June 20, 2010, 15:14:43 »
When checking the allotment yesterday I noticed two of my 3 year old apple trees having had great blossom on continued and had loads of small fruit formed 10 and 20 mm size. Now they seem to be all almost black in colour, maybe hint of blueish.
Obviously not right, does any one know what might have happened or the outcome of my trees? Please help.  willie.

It might just be the "June drop" where the tree sheds fruit that it cannot bring to maturity. They sometimes darken as they are about to drop.
If the leaves are fine and the rest of the tree looks healthy, thats probably it. 3 years old is a bit young to be bearing lots of fruit.
Make sure they are getting plenty of water though.
