Sambucus Nigra 'Black Lace' - OK in a pot? - And where?

Morning all
I have been given a lovely Black Lace Sambucus in a 2 litre pot, so already quite large. I have decking at the back - full sun, and a tiny border at the front which faces north east and only gets a bit of sun in the morning.
I've trawled the Net and am getting conflicting advice for positioning. So my dilema is this:
Keep it in a pot and put it on the decking where it gets full sun nearly all day? or
Plant it in my very shady border which has a clay and shale acid soil - though this has been supplemented with lots of compost.
What's the verdict folks - I know the answer is out there and put my faith in A4A rather than faceless so called experts on the Internet!!
Any help would be, as always, much appreciated.
Regards Caro

Should be ok in a half barrel, but would refer to RHS guide to plants.
A basic link to the BBC below may help.

It will be a large plant to be kept in captivity. Bung it in the ground anywhere you like, after all it is only a posh elder. Cut it down when it gets too big or leggy. If it dies on you I would give up gardening, they are bombproof.

ditto to Ace's reply. We have 2 and they get cut down every year and every year they shoot away again.

Thanks Landimad, Carol and Ace, I've been on the website, checked it out again, and decided to 'bung it in the ground' in the shady spot. If it lives it lives, if not........
