Virginia Creeper
« on: May 15, 2010, 14:24:32 »
I saw these on sale in Marks and Spencer. Should I get one to crawl along my hedge? Will it self seed anywhere? Why should I not get one? In what way are they invasive?

i have one on my fence and it is pretty rampant but doesnt self seed. it sends out shoots through the beds and into the lawn and through the trees. ..  but my garden is pretty wild so i dont mind.  it responds fine to cutting (hacking) back. its a useful plant in my view.

We used to have one along the back of our house, lovely colours in Autumn.
Much rather this to a Russian vine (AKA the mile a minute plant) now that's rampant.

Got them back now to put some tread on them

Oh my! I try to kill this vine almost every week. Terribly invasive here maybe because some birds like the berries.
