Jeannine, I know I said I wasn't going to read this thread but I was starting to have a little  :o

But now I'm thinking your parcel left roughly on the 12th, going on previous Canada to uk parcels, which have taken two to two and a half weeks. Takes us up to the end of last week

Add in volcano time,
If it helps i have a friend who was waiting for a dress to be delivered from the US and its been delayed the message given by the site was that there is a massive delay in post due to the lack of flights during the volcano problem and that priority is being given to food and medical supplies and everything else has to wait. Perhapse your package is just caught up in that lot?

I'm now thinking the parcel could only be due, at the very earliest, this week onwards  ;D

Plus a Bank Holiday...

Puts it at end of this week into next, ahh I was expecting it a week or so early!

Not late at all  ;D

Jeannine - what are passamaquaddies please? All I can find by googling is that they are/were some Indian tribe or something. It's such a lovely word - so if it's something to grow I'd like to have a go!!

Yes, it was the town in Pete's Dragon..and yes you are right about the Indian tribes. They are Jerusalem Artichokes..purple ones..from the area that the Indians lived.I have bought some from a firm in PEI,,chatting to Jayb about it, meant to send her an update and answered  here without thinking...dong!!XX Jeannine

PS They are coming from Hope seeds if anyone wants to read about them but they don't ship tubers to the UK.

I think it is a super word/name too, just a lovely sound to it  :)

Jeannine, from your other post it mentions you will send addresses separately. Just wondering if they have been sent yet?, it might be a guide to how long the post is taking, although I think a letter gets through quicker than a parcel?

Yes I had mixed feelings about this.. I didn't want to put addies in the parcel, then I thought I would send them all to you , then decided I would just put them on the forum as PM's as needed. possibly to save me having to type them all !! What do you think is best.?

A relative of Johns came yesterday from Scotland, she hadn't received a parcel sent out to her from here that was posted 4 days before mine ,same post office too so there are still things stuck out there.

Wish the blooming thing wouls surface.

I might be a bit previous but I think pm's as needed will be fine, it may well help with keeping track of where it is. I had thought when it arrives I would send it on recorded, so it will be traceable and won't cost much more.  Another thought and might mean a little more work for you but before pm'ing an address, pm the next recipient first to check they are not on holiday or similar.

I suspect parcels posted earlier will take longer than parcels posted later, if that makes sense. Because they will have been put to one side so to speak, until they knew what to do with them, while later postings will have had a clearer route through.

Yes reassuring to hear of other parcel delays first hand, especially as its from family.

It will arrive in time, keep up those positive vibes  ;D  just hope my postie can cope with all the attention!

I  think the above sounds very workable, especially if someone is on holiday a re-route would make sense.
One of my mates is still stuck abroad gradually working her way back via Korea  and Paris  so I do not think we should worry just yet
although if a Canadian customs team win at Chelsea for their fabulous Veg garden we will know why!
My swaps are on stand by.

Passamaquaddies have finally arrived, took ages to cross Canada, but I am really beginning to think something is amiss with the parcel, even allowing for hold ups surely it should be there by now, it went airmail...feeling very deflated and concerned. :-\

I am a little concerned too, but I still think there is a good chance your parcel will arrive. Airports and flights have continued to be effected/closed for periods because of the volcano. Canadian post is also incredibly slow.
From your previous posts it seems Passamaquaddies have taken about a fortnight to arrive with internal mail so definitely still hope for international  :)

Just that the eruption seems to be over, so hopefully things will be getting back to normal once they clear the backlog. Dunno how long that's going to take though.

As you know we are still waiting for Jeannine’s fabbie parcel to surface. Since there is no way to know when or I suppose if it will appear, we thought we could start with the swap bit of Jeannine’s parcel. I know it is a bit backwards and disappointing for all involved.  But I feel Jeannine has put in an enormous amount of time, effort and expense, it seems a shame for it to just stop.

Jeannine has put in some fantastic tomato seeds I’ve been babysitting for her and I’ve added in a selection of different things I hope will be of interest to get it started. When the Canadian parcel arrives I will forward it on to whoever has the parcel and post out to those who have already had their turn.

I’m hoping to post Jeannine’s ½ parcel later this week  ;D
