Topic: wood chip on paths

i was going to use wood chip on my allotment paths between beds but not sure what to do now, as i have heard that honey fungus may still be present. has anyone heard of this being a problem?

never heard of it before? but we have just done all our paths in it so hope its not a worry!

They only problem  I've had with wood chip is the ruddy blackbirds flinging it around everywhere.

My only problem with woodchip is..

We recently moved and had two large conifers felled - 40 feet plus.  'Dump the chippings over there' I said as I thought I could use them to break up the clay soil and use them for paths.

Now I've bought a greenhouse that has to go where they dumped the chippings, have so far moved 12 cubic metres of the stuff and theres still more.

Its my own fault !

we've been using them on the fruit cage paths for 5 yrs, no problem with our trees so far  :)

I can sympathize. Im a big fan of woodchip, I've used it every year on my garden, my lottie and other gardens that I maintain, for the last 10 years.

Last year I asked the local tree surgeon for a 'lorry load' and got over 8 cubic meters. I took me nearly four months to distribute it all.

Its my own fault. !

(never had any problems with the occasional mushroom. I just hoe 'em off and they dont come back. The micro-rhizomes that form (the white stuff that grow on/over the chips) are very beneficial for plant growth.)

We get a load dumped on the site annually for plot holders to top up their paths.  No complaints so far.
