Should I feed my sprouts now?
« on: October 22, 2009, 08:59:57 »
First year growing them......catalogue of disasters (drought, swamped by outsize lettuces, demolished by whitefly, heads torn off by pigeons, sprouts molested by mealy aphids) half died, much shorter than they should be, heads growing back and they do have small sprouts, but they're growing painfully slowly.

They've had top dressings of my finest compost twice and pigeon pellets once - should I do something else to tickle them at this late stage?  Blood, fish bone?  More pellets?  Or would it be too late or too much?

Thanks....

If the soil is wet that should be enough.. they prefer nitrogen feeds but it can make the foilage susceptible to frost damage so by now I wouldn't bother..
