Crop rotation plan
« on: October 11, 2004, 14:51:22 »
Will this work?

This year bed A had tomatoes and beans in it. Next year it'll have alliums and roots.

Next spring strips B, C, and D will be dug new (they are currently uncultivated). They will all be part of one big bed, with paving between to separate them. They will be at a right angle to Bed A. I don't have room for four separate beds in my garden.

B (nearest north-facing fence) spuds (earlies) following by squashes (probably) and sprouts

C sweetcorn, beans, squashes and courgettes (in the three sisters thing)

D tomatoes

I will grow salad crops in between the stepping stones and around the edges of beds.

Does it sound plasible? Would the corn cast too much shade on the toms? Or would it be better to swap them round, although then toms would be next to spuds? (as they are earlies, would I be blight free?)

Oh this is oh so complicated.
