I thought that dubious pleasure went to the Bhat Jalokia I'm growing.. am I behind the times again? Mine are just flowering..

Mind you, I wouldn't be within a million miles of them, never mind having them so close to my face.  It was bad enough when I cut open a cayenne!

The Naga Jolokia (English: King Cobra Chili) — also known as Bhut Jolokia, Ghost Chili, Ghost Pepper, Naga Morich — is a chili pepper. In 2007, it was confirmed by Guinness World Records to be the hottest chili in the world, replacing the Red Savina. It is a naturally occurring inter-specific hybrid originating in the Assam region of northeastern India.[1][2] It also grows in the Indian states of Nagaland and Manipur. Disagreement has arisen on whether it is a Capsicum frutescens or a Capsicum chinense. Some claim it is a C. frutescens,[3] but recent DNA tests have found that it is an interspecies hybrid, mostly C. chinense with some C. frutescens genes.[4]

Tell me about it! All I did last night was de stalk the lot of them, I never even got close to inside! I was coughing and spluttering for 30 mins! I wiped my nose and oooooh the pain!
When I make the sauces out of these I'm wearing goggles and gloves!

Some of the labels have worn off so I am hoping they are easily recognisble!!

i'm growing naga as well but as yet have only got a couple of chillies on the plants, plenty of flowers tho, can i just ask when did you start your plants off  :)

We start the chillies off in March, propagator, then under glass. The Ring of Fire are huge and laden but he Jalokia are just flowering...  :-X

I sow chilli seeds from Jan to April, but sorry can't remember when I sowed the nagas, prob jan or feb, and remember I'm in Spain.

ah didn't notice that you were in spain, pobably why yours are doing so well they seem to like the heat, my were sown mid march i may try a bit earlier next year  :)

Sow in January as long as you can keep your seedlings snug, and keep potting on.

I've got naga jolokia but they're not the same as those, there seems to be a lot of confusion with the names. These are mine so far, apparently the black colour's "suntan" ;D


This was a couple of weeks ago so have plenty more now!
I also have bih jolokia and bhut jolokia growing, they're just flowering at the moment but my orange and mustard habs have started to form some pods now!!!  ;D

Bring on the pain!!!  ;)
