scraping the barrel now - all that's left is a few parsnips and swede, so that's a stew and dumplings tonight (found them the other day in a bed still to work on), the last batch of forced chicory (salad at lunch), peas and runner beans in the freezer, spicy plum chutney, red currant jelly and blackcurrant/gooseberry jam and yesterday we juiced the last of our apples - amazing and beautiful juice it was  ;D but all the new salads are nearly ready and so it begins again  :D

Salad things - rocket, cress, lamb's lettuce, spring onions.  Squash, found one small onion that did not get harvested whilst digging, parsnip and tomatoes and peas from the freezer.  I am making a sort of vegetable stew and liver with onion.

From last year's crops:
Toms that I'd halved and tossed in some basil leaves (prior to freezing), tomato that I'd cooked and sieved (prior to freezing too), garlic that was beginning to go soft (take the core out), the smallest onions imaginable. All thrown in a little olive oil with some oregano, salt and pepper and reduced then blitzed. Served over (purchased) red pepper tortellini (spelled torteloni on the packet!) and sprinkled with cheese.

The mash was homegrown PFA's that had started to sprout (you can freeze mash!, hurrah), some  french beans (CObra) from the freezer adn a some brussesl (ditto), sojme of the onions and the garlic in the gravy were homegrown too (big batch that I froze).... the sausages an a carrot were shopbought....
