Raspberry Cane Problem
« on: August 03, 2009, 09:21:45 »
Whilst cutting down the fruited canes (fabulous harvest)of my summer raspberries I have noticed the new canes have strange blotches on ::)  initially a black blotch at base of cane but I have noticed a few also have blothes further up the cane.
My initial thought being blight I have checked out the web but its nothing like the pictures shown. Has anyone any thoughts as to what it might be - what to do, do I just cut the effected canes out to be on the safe side?

There's nothing in the "Fruit Expert" that sounds even remotely likely... don't think rasps can get "blight" as such... I'd keep an eye on it and if it shows any sign of spreading or killing the cane cut it out to be on the safe side..  :-\
Unless somebody knows better...  ???

Thanks saddad will keep a watchful eye.
The raspberry blight pictures on the net looks more like 'canker' than blight as we know it!
