Project Hush
« on: July 26, 2009, 19:32:50 »
Here is something that I have put together over the past few days.
I hope that the OH likes it as this is for her birthday.

Oops I had better finish it soon.

Ah that's better.  ;D

Got them back now to put some tread on them

Well folks here is the final product.
It has been stained with an oak finish with a clear preservative to hopefully make it last another 40 years.

If not then I shall just have to make another one. ;D

Well all,
She is very pleased with the idea of getting something that is from the hand and heart, I am sure it will outlast me if I care for it as I have the family.

Yes I am the idiot on the right. ;D

Thanks all,

She is pleased to sit on this one as the shop type are to upright, so I gave this one a 5 degree extra lean to the back. It maybe a small amount but the difference to the seat is remarkable. Comfort is a priority to people with bad backs. Also the length of it would have meant that I would have had to had it specially made.

Yes Janet the stain and sealer is dry, we are not tigers, so no stripes.

I had no idea how this would turn out, so the head went into design mode.
As always nothing ever gets written or drawn, I just work it out as I go along.
Dowel joints, biscuit joints and a few bolts and screws. Then the hard bit patients as it all comes together and dries in time for the day.

Like most of my projects, they come together eventually. Some have not due to my temper. But by enlarge the most get completed.

I will try to make a few more things and see if you all can too.
Lets see what you all can do with what you have just lying around or going begging from a skip. ;D ;D ;D

Wow

"from the heart and hand"

This is such an authentic way of expressing the gift.

I think when you create something for a loved one, it means so much more, the thought process of deciding what the person needs, the act of designing and implementing the idea.

Thank you!

You have made my day!

I never put anything down on paper or plan anything.
Shame this would have been a good one to get on the market.

Terrific bit of work, quite envious!
The answer lies in the soil!
