waste ground to flower bed ?

as i know absolutely nothing about flowers i am in need of ideas for a waste ground piece of land at the end of my allotment about 1 and half metres s by about 8 . basically it slopes to about a metre of the ground as is full of weeds ,although hidden amongst the rubbish is a patch of beautiful blue bells and unknown others so am looking for ideas for plants /flowers which are easy to look after possible that will keep coming year after year if possible  thanks n8r ... ;D

I don't know the proper name for them but 'red hot pokers' springs to mind.

Some one on our site has pampas grass, which I don't care for but it is better to look at than a lot of weeds.

Comfrey, mint and horse radish serve a dual purpose of cover and are useable.

Nasturtiums, violets and forget-me-nots also give a pretty cover and are self seeding.
