I'm growing for the first time 100's and 1000's a little smaller than a cherry tomato.

Black Cherry is delish dark blackish purple, sweet juicy fruits

Ildi - yellow cordon tomato with up to 80 fruits per truss

Ferline - Tolerant to blight when grown outside

Tigerella - Cordon - Striped fruit - tangy flavor

Sub Arctic Plenty - Bush variety - sets fruits under cooler conditions

Sungold - Cordon - Voted by gardeners as the sweetest of tomatoes

I'm also trying another new tomato for me called Mortgage Lifter - very popular in the states - A large tomato bred back in 1930's a cross between four varieties of tomato.

I just a case of trying what you'll think you will like, and going for it.
Good Luck

my best sudjestion would be just try and see wot grows best for your conditions.

one type of tomm might work for you and another may not. as it's your first year try loads and see wich one grows the best with the condition you give it

 ;)

I've grown many different varieties in the seven years I have had my allotment but the one I prefer above all others is Sungold.  (It is all a matter of personal taste of course, what one person thinks tastes lovely, another does not.)
Sungold grows quite tall but once it reaches the top of your polytunnel you could bend it and let it grow sideways, supported by canes.
As it's your first year I would grow as many different varieties as you have room for.

Last year tried Celebrity, Polfast and  Pruden's Purple, an heirloom which was delish. So this year am trying:
Tigerella- 55-65 days striped Eng. heirloom
Black Krim- 69 days  large  heirloom
Anna Russian- 1 lb fruits 65 days
Brandywine- 80 days

and Polfast (54 days) which gave us a tangy tom-  a smallish 3 1/2 to 6 oz. by mid June last year- the earliest ever for me, a whole month earlier.

I don't think we can get Polfast in the UK, unless it goes by another name over here.

Never had experience of a polytunnel, just greenhouse & outdoor.

But I agree about Sungold. Beautiful tomato.

Marmande is good, but for me Costolutto Fiorientino is even better.

But I agree with the advice to grow as many different varieties as possible: see what suits your growing conditions - not forgetting that next year will be totally different - and your taste. I grow 8 or 9 main varieties, but a couple of dozen "specials" - just 3 or 4 plants of each type.

Sorry, forgot - the GH standard is Shirley. Not the tastiest (but pretty good) but wins hands-down in virtually every other respect. If you have to restrect yourself, that should be one of your choices.
