I am having trouble getting bones now.

We do not have a butcher here to speak of and the supermarkets all buy in from the local slaughter house/meat factory on the grounds that it is less costly. In turn the meat factory sends it's bones to the animal feed factory near it.

There are not enough bones on the meat bought for the two of us if I get meat with the bone on it (hard to find too) to make a decent stock.

If we go somewhere and see a decent butchers I think it is cheeky just to go in and ask for a bag of bones.

You are lucky to be able to get them.

The 2 butchers in  Bourton have gone, leaving one - good one - in Stow.

But, in fact, this lot were 'paid for' left-overs
