Frost damaged cauliflowers.
« on: December 17, 2008, 21:18:00 »
Hi all

I have been so excited that I have managed to grow some cauliflowers for the first time. They are a bit on the small side, but enough for a meal for my family and rather tasty. I have left some of them for a few weeks, hoping to save them for the Christmas table, but when I checked on them this afternoon they looked a bit gray as if the frost has got to them. They are supposed to be a winter variety so I am surprised they have been damaged. Unfortunately the curds are not covered by any leaves. Will I still be able to use them, or would I be better off cutting and freezing them for a later date, or just bite the bullet and compost them.

Many thanks, Steve
I'd rather be flying

STEVE
If you have a cauliflower that looks like a cauli you buy from the shops that is it,  no matter how big or small it is not going to get any bigger the next thing that will happen is the curd will start to open up and it will blow, cut them use them and enjoy them if you are worried about them being grey cover in cheese sauce,
