Photo's
« on: August 25, 2004, 13:19:06 »
OK - I have now spent hours yesterday and all of today trying to create a holder file and am prepared to commit murder. I have printed off Dan's instructions dated April 21st, and gone through all the relevant postings I can find. I can't even make a "holder file". I'm sure I have done it right, but all I get in the webpics folder is an index file which just reads "Quote" - none of the <html> stuff comes out. I have tried pressing "save" and "save as...", and variations to save as "text documents" or "all files" but nothing works. Isn't there an easier way? Please?

I had an unrelated problem that stapped me posting pictures.

I then went to http://geocities.yahoo.com/ and created a selection of picture albums on there. This is dead easy and took about 5 minutes to master.

You can then post a link to the image here on these boards and the picture appears.

It is free and very very easy to do. You web page can either have one photo per page or 8. You can also send the link friends via email so they can see them all.

You got the hang of it now Chantenay, so we have both learned something, 8) (thanks EJ) the down side Growmore said on another thread Image shack only allows you to use it for 12 months. ::) So we better keep trying the hard way. :o

Hi Roy - I have just signed up with photobucket - it is only open for new registration for a few hours each day and I do not think there are any limits. By Jove, we've got it!!

Sam

I downloaded a free image manipulation tool, IrfanView. It is a great tool and image resizing is very very easy, a click of the mouse and type in the size require, voila.

You can down load it at:

www.irfanview.com

It is a very good tool infact, far better than paintbrush and similar.

Photomanager from Hpphoto.com is also very easy to use for changing the size of a photograph. I use 300 pixels wide for putting side by side and 350 pixels wide for individual shots. The height is automatically adjusted. For the Album photos on Hpphoto I use 600 width.  Downloading to Photobucket of 300 wide pixel photos is very quick.
