What a shame
« on: November 11, 2008, 10:14:49 »
The QE2 ran aground this morning. It had to happen on her last day and while she is in the limelight. There is a big frenzy down this way for people to line the seafront to see her go. Fireworks, special local cruises and party boats.

It was a regular sight to see go by from my lounge window. But now we shall have to be content with the QM2 instead.

A neighbour has just come up from the harbour and he looked as if he had had a bad night. He works on the tugs and they were called out to try and tow her off before the news got out. But the press are always alert for these type of stories.

A little bit choppy out there he said. Looking at the sea now I would not like to be on it and it has calmed down since he was out there.

I remember when she came back from the Falklands. As I used to be in the RN, I used to kid myself I was entitled to fly the white ensign on my little boat. (I wasn't really) but  as a mark of respect I dipped my ensign and to my great surprise she dipped hers back.

Respect or what!

I'm sorry to see her going, I have never seen her but remember doing a project on her at school when she was launched, all good things come to an end I suppose.

Ace, how lucky are you to have a view from your lounge where you can see her like that, really envious!

Ace your post usually leaves me in fits of giggles  ;D

However this one left me reduced to tears, the way you wrote with such passion having to say goodbye to an old friend  :'(

My xmas card list has just got a bit shorter.

I was trying to be sentimental and serious but you have denied me that pleasure, I hope you are all pleased with yourself and will take a bit of time and think about the consequencies of your actions. Some of us on here are  not used to the ribald inuendo and are easily shocked and saddened by your remarks.

Now go and sit on the naughty step and don't come back until can think up better jokes than the ones you have just posted ;D
