Pumpkin jams
« on: November 03, 2008, 17:32:10 »
Got pumpkins, need recipes/ideas!  ;D

Have already made pumpkin & ginger, and pumpkin & orange jams. What else would go nicely with pumpkin to make jam? Found a recipe for marrow & pineapple jam - perhaps I'll try that with pumpkin.

Hi Multiveg I have made  3 lots of the marrow and Pineapple Jam this year, each batch being a little different.  I used Sarah Ravens version which states it is a Victorian recipe, however  she does not like her jams too set and consequently I found this to be more of a syrup, so the first attempt I had to reboil and I then found it rather sweet for my tooth the following batches I reduced the sugar also using  a small percentage of preserving sugar. But every one seems to like it!

Going to do marrow & pineapple (marrow in sugar at moment)
Found a photograph (no recipe) of pumpkin & kiwi jam - that could be interesting.
