At last my local council has listened!!!
« on: September 03, 2008, 21:25:48 »
Ages ago I asked for advice on the forum about getting my local council to budge on providing land for allotments.

I am pleased to say that today in the local "council rag" that it is mentioned about people getting in touch who may be interested in having allotments provided by the council.

I was elated...!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

So just wanted to say thanks to everyone who gave me advice, and I will keep badgering them till they give me one!! :D :D :D

Gratz!

Get as many people as possible to show their interest - and lobby the councillors as well - show em you are keen.

If you are interested in being self run with a committee - mention this to them now.  It will do 3 things: Firstly: get their ass in gear a bit faster and possibly give you a larger piece of land for more plots.  Secondly: It will almost certainly guarantee you a plot as you would be "helping them set things up" 8) ;) 8)  Thirdly: By being part of the committee - you may be able to have a say on exactly what amenities you would like them to provide, or at least try to negotiate some things that they may miss.
