Topic: Tomato blight question

Hi all

Unfortunately I have lost all my tomatoes to blight. But I was wondering, my plants were in a large raised bed with other things, peas, lettuce etc. I have removed the tomato plants now, but will the soil still be safe for growing next year or is the soil infected too??

Blight can only survive in the living tissue of a susceptible species, so the soil's OK. The one thing you need to watch out for is blighted potatoes coming up and spreading it the following year.

reading all the text books who suggest crop rotation even if you crop is not infected do not grow tomatoes in the same soil next year it will be holding some virus maybe not blight but maybe something else
