Applying nettle tea?
« on: June 17, 2008, 12:37:23 »
Hello

I've made some nettle fertiliser for the first time this year and I'm now wondering which is the best way to apply it, as a root drench or as a foliar feed?  And how often?

Many thanks

We were given some last year and I applied it as a root drench, seemed to work well that well. Although now you menion it, think have read somewhere that it can feed applied as a foliar feed.

Hmm, not much help really sorry....     :-\

Thanks both, in that case I think I'll try it both ways and see if there's a difference.

How long (minimum) do the nettles need to soak?

I had results after 2 /3 weeks in a bucket full sun with a black bin liner over the top, stir every couple of days when it stops fermenting its readdy to use.
I would leave it away from your normal deckchair rest area !!Dont get ot on your skin as its a b****r to get the smell of !!!

I use a plastic bin with a tight fitting lid.  The (chemical) gloves and full body waterproofs are an essential idea - it is what I wear, even on a stonkingly hot summer's day!
