Holly Question
« on: May 27, 2008, 09:48:13 »
We have a holly bush in our garden which was already in when we moved in about 10 years ago.
It has started to shed its leaves quite a lot at the moment, does anybody know why?????

Evergreens do shed their leaves, usually in small numbers all the year round, but with the odd weather we are having, it could just be just reacting to that. As long as there are new buds and leaves then the tree should be ok. I have just looked at one of our older hollies and it too has a lot of dropping leaves.
Gardening is the great leveller.

We have a number of different types of hollies (trees and bushes) and they all get partially yellowed and drop leaves in Spring but green up rapidly.

They can get a mite in between the thick layers on the leaves. It happened to ours  some years ago but we got a spray for it and it worked.

Cant remember the name of the product now though.
