Topic: Mexican Marigolds

Regarding companion planting, I had read that Mexican marigolds had some sort of weed inhibiting properties, specifically bindweed. Now it may be wrong but I am willing to give it a try in the name of science*

I can find French and African marigolds, but not Mexican? Any ideas?

Not sure which is better value. Sarah Raven has a minimum 3 packet order and charges £2.50 P&P but (for a change!) gives you more Tagetes seeds. Organic have no minimum order and charge £1.50 P&P for orders under £25.00

To get the full bind weed inhibiting powers from the Mexican Marigolds you apparently have to dig them in when they're in full leaf.

Mine got eaten before they really got going last year. Will probably have to pot them on at home first to let them get bigger and avoid the same thing happening again.
