Not another recipe?
« on: March 01, 2008, 18:31:10 »
SO many on tap, why bother?  Just because I wanted inspiration for a new way with Pork Steaks.

Usually sauté them in Egg & Sagey Breadcrumbs. Googled a post in Yahoo Answers. Just great!

Lay out foil
(Dry Steak & spread with Mustard)
Add Sage leaves
Add sliced Apples
(thingy Butter in centre of Apples)
(Add Chilli)
S&P
Wrap in the foil & bake 30 mins

The brackets are my add-ons.

Trust me tim, tis is delicious.  You do need to use a green pepper, red or yellow just would not give quite the same taste.

PORK CHOPS IN ORANGE-PEPPER SAUCE

4 trimmed loin chops
1oz sugar
1oz butter
1oz cornflour
half level teaspoon dried rosemary
half a pint of water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons orange juice
half a green pepper
thick slices of fresh orange

Season both sides of chops with salt and pepper, and a little of the sugar.  Melt butter in a frying pan, and brown the chops well on both sides.  Place on a plate.

Add the rest of the sugar, cornflour and rosemary to the drippings.  Stir well and gradually add the water.  Cook, stirring until glossy.

Add the juices and green pepper.

Return the chops to the pan and place a slice of orange on each chop.  Cover with a lid or foil.  Simmer over a low heat for 40 mins, until chops are tender.

It may sound a strange mixture, but trust me, it is delicious, especially with mashed potatoes and a green veg.

We do tend to use pork steaks, rather than pork chops.

Certainly Rosemary is off my beaten track.

Can't say food's dull, can you!
