I have a desert apple tree in my garden. There is no way we would eat all the apples, so I use them like cooking apples, but without adding sugar. The last batch I made was too watery, so I put in a bit of sugar and some macaroni. 15 mins simmering and, hey presto, a very 'interesting' desert. Tastes nice though ::)
I may even try it in a pie ;D
