Thanks, not sure breed Sage was sitting on some eggs didn't know which was hers Georgie porgy was dad though as he is the only cockerel we have, and she got a bit brody so thought to put her on the eggs we have about 8 brown/white coloured girls so could be any one of them! she looks kinder funny though,could be a boy i suppose,(hope not as told grandaughter would be xmas dinner ha ha)

Ah Blossom is beautiful, good strong legs on her/him , looks like mum very protective. I hope its a pullet for you especialy when its the only one to hatch.

Someone said on my preverice post that if hen eats chick crumbs will not be able to eat eggs is that right , if so why

Well Pauline some chick crumbs and not sure about growers pellets contain a anti- Coccidiosis treatment to make sure chicks dont pick it up.
This could be passed on in eggs. I dont think it will kill you just mite make you feel sick?
But saying that the broody will not lay while she is caring for the young. This can be quite some time.
I have had broodys eating chick crumbs and growers and it does build them up after sitting which takes a lot out of them they get run down.

thank you, will it be ok after has been weened off chick crumbs she is about 5 weeks now i think and has been eating some corn aswell so hope thats ok
