Tomato Mould
« on: July 10, 2007, 13:05:22 »
Just been going round my toms looking for side shoots, and had a look into a very dense growth patio variety (which doesn't need sideshooting)
Came across patches af a brown, furry mould that was affecting stems and ripe fruit, which had turned rotten. Couldn't find anything in the various Google sites, and the unaffective parts of the plant seem quite healthy.
Any suggestions please?

At best you might just have a case of botrytus caused by the dense foliage and high humidity.

You don't mention if they are outdoors, if not poor ventilation could be the problem.

At worst you have 'blight'

Cut out the diseased sections before it develops any further and with a bit of luck you will save your plants.

Thanks - I think it may be the former, they are in the greenhouse.
