Topic: Cuttings from a honeysuckle

Does anybody know the best way to take cuttings from a honeysuckle. I am trying some green stems in compost at the moment but if anybody has any suggestions I would be pleased to hear them.

Think green wood cutting in compost should be fine. Keep it well watered.  ;D
My friend always uses rooting powder when he's taking cuttings like that, but i just bung 'em in!  ::)

the easiest way to propagate lonicera (not the shrub) is by layering. Make a cut with a sharp knife at a node and peg this down in the soil and leave to root. Takes several months. If you do this with several nodes along the stem, you can get several new plants. Leave the bits of stem between the cuts above the ground. If it's an established plant, it may already have done it naturally itself

oh cut sould be about 10-12 inches from growing point, and hold the cut open with some kind of wedge thing

Take cuttimgs of new growth with a bit of the hard end attached. Trim to about 6 inches and remove the leaves. Shove in the ground 3 inches deep in a shady corner and forget.
Nothing easier!
