Barrell water feature/pond!
« on: April 10, 2007, 08:47:23 »
I have acquired a large half-barrell, I am sure you can picture it.
I want to put water into it with plants.
Do I need a pump/filter? or will the plants filter the water, are there any suitable plants anybody could recomend?

Thanks
D

Hi, I've got two barrel type ponds one of which has a water lily in it and several other plants  in additin to several dozen tadpoles at the moment. The other one has oxygenating plants and a floating plant which has yellow flowers. There are also some bulb like plants which grow arrow shaped heads and have blue flowers. A couple of goldfish live in that one. I am afraid I can't name any of the plants (not my area of expertise) but neither of the ponds has a pump or filter and they are both very healthy.
