« on: February 24, 2007, 23:42:01 »
Can you please tell me if i would be able to take my beautiful Hellebore with me when we move by cutting it right back and putting it in a pot for a very short time i am so attached to it , it is an old species from an old manor house years ago.
If not i shall have to leave it behind :'( :'(. It is rather large Eric.  Rosebud.

Rosebud, Hope you don't mind me butting in but I asked him the same question recently (but not on the boards).

We moved four days before Christmas and we brought one of the ones Paulstris gave to us. It hasn't flowered yet but there are clear signs of growth.  We just took up a decent rootball and potted up as normal, put into the garden when we had a few mild days.

Best of luck with the move.

Those things are as tough as old boots; I dug one yesterday as I was weeding that patch, and I bet the flowers won't even wilt. Just go ahead.

Gosh I think I have changed my name!
Do as Hex says, big root ball, big pot and water well before and after.
Gardening is the great leveller.
