Bad news... good news
« on: January 22, 2007, 14:01:22 »
Hi all,

Had mixed fortunes over the weekend.  I was rather despondent about how much glass had been broken in the newly-sited greenhouse and was doing lots of head-shaking and muttering, but then I hit on the bright idea of using really strong polythene and gaffer tape to 'glaze' the missing panes.  B&Q do some tough-grade stuff that doesn't rot or anything, so we're using some of that for the 'glass' and the gaffer tape is incredibly sticky and waterproof.  If the wind blows it out, I simply tape a new section in.  In yer face, wind!

Next up, one of my lotty neighbours had bought a new wood burner for his shed.  Now I've always really wanted a wood burner, so I asked what he was doing with his old one.  Result, I'm the proud owner of an upright-cylinder coke stove that burns wood very well and enough steel conduit to make a flue and chimney.  We tried the thing out just before we left last night and it works a treat.

Anyone else had a reversal of fortune recently?
