cardoons and globe artichokes
« on: April 13, 2004, 14:16:39 »
Why can't I get them to germinate?  If I buy some new seed, is it to late to sow them now? :-[

Hi EJ

No it`s not too late. Odd that they didn`t germinate. If you know anyone with a cardoon try to get a bit of it-any half decent bit of root will grow.

Stephan.

Thats the thing Stephan, Emma no mates!  Don't know anyone who grows either so seeds it has to be.  The cardoon seeds were given to me, so they may have been naff before I received them, and the artichoke seeds were from last year....and none germinated then either!  hmm...I shall try and buy some this week and have another go.

Remind me in the Autumn if you have no luck with the cardoon,I split mine only last year but I will see if I can take a bit off  when it dies down. But no promises this year.
