Topic: cucumber plant is dying???

For the last week I have noticed that my cucumber plant is dying, all the leavings are turning brown and just drying up.  I water the plant every single morning, and it was growing really well, however for the past 7 days it looks like it has come to the end of it's life ???

I have two baby cucumbers on the plant, they are still growing everyday, they are currently the size of small gherkins.  I don't understand what has gone wrong!

I keep the plant in the greenhouse along with a few tomato plants, one chilli plant and one aubergine plant, everything else looks fine.

Any ideas???

Something chewing its roots? Disease? I've never grown them indoors, but those are the two things to look for. Have you checked the roots?

Sounds awfully like RSM??

Veggie Mad. Can I come in on this thread please? One of my cucumber plants has leaves that are yellowing. Is RSM plainly visible?

this always seems to happen to mine as well, but i've had quite a good crop off them.
Maybe they've just spent there lot?

having seen the pictures i definitely have RSM. :'(  I had a good crop of my first cucumber plant, I'll give it another go next year.

Hope my two cucumbers get a chance to grow before the plant is totally dead.

Depending upon how much you value your cus - & how jungly they are - & how badly infested, do consider http://www.defenders.co.uk/. They are very helpful.

At this stage, if you can get at every leaf, I reckon Eradicoat would be the best way to go.

My cucumber plants are losing a few old leaves but still growing at the other end and producing fruit and flowers. I just pick off the decaying stuff so its not slug food. All my squash lose a leaf or two to my big feet or the weather I just compost the bits. I think it opens up the middle of the plant to let a bit of air and light in and keep mildew away as the weather is now damper.

Having said that theres no sign of pests of any kind, so I am very fortunate.

RSM (Red Spider Mite) it looks really like a virus infection via the RSM. A virus ridden plant is non bring back to normality or non salvagable. Its a case of grow and hope. I am sorry about your problem but hey there is always next year! If you think you aint got next year keep thinking the same and guess what it will arrive! Wheres there a will there is a way!
