The pictures of the Buff Orpington reminds me of one that we had, she palled up with a little black silky and they were 'friends' for years, until the fox came. Did you know that Buff Orpingtons were the late Queen Mums favourite breed?

Thanks bunjy. My daughter takes the chooks into her house to have tea!
I went to rescue a couple of them but when I put my head through the door they were sat having a dust bath happy as larry !  :D
Katy the young uns look neat but the older hens look a right rabble!  I'm sure if they see a puddle they jump in it !  Wish my camera wasn't bust,I miss taking their photos  :(

Talking of taking hens into the house, my sister once worked on a farm, and when she got a dog, she got an English Pointer, since that would never harm an animal. She was a dopey thing, but soon realised that hens are nice and warm. So she used to grab one at night, drag it into her kennel, and lie on it. She never harmed one, but they kept her warm.

Wow Heldi, it's hard to believe that the Buff Orpingtons are only 6 weeks old.  They look really healthy chicks.  Thanks for sharing.   :D ;D

I'd love some chickens but live in a flat and can't have them on allotment. Been trying to convince my mom to let me turn some of her back garden into a chicken pen  :o

But she's not having any of it  :(

nice pics by the way

Hi Pauline! I posted those pics ages ago!   The Orps are now 12 weeks old!  They are as big as the year old girls already. Absolutely fabulous natures. Lots of people stop by to admire them  :)  Think I have three hens and three cockerels. Won't be sure until the crowing starts!

Baggieboy, don't give up on trying to get your mum to keep a couple of hens. My eight year old and three year old adore their chooks! It's all good.

They're lovely looking chooks... if only the wife would say yes I'd have my own!
