squash with yellow stalk
« on: July 24, 2006, 10:25:05 »
Hi everyone,
This year, i am growing Turk's Turban squash, and I wondered if anyone could reassure me. The fruits are starting to develop, but the stalks ar yellow. That is, the plant is green, but where a fruit stalk emerges from the main stem it is yellow, as is the fruit. They have been like that for over a week. On courgettes, and pumpkins, I would take that as a sure sign that the fruit is about to drop off - is that what is going to happen? or is it normal?

Thanks,
Sarah.

Had the same thing happen with butternut squashes - they rotted eventually, so now if I see yellow stalks and embryos I snap them off. I'm just hoping I get some more that are healthy as I haven't a clue as to why they should go yellow in the first place ???.
