Oh dear!

My neighbours have just left for a weeks holiday.......hope it wasn't anything to do with the fact that I told them I've just picked my first courgettes! ;D ;D
I think they still have nightmares about being bombarded with them last year.

And my neighbours have just sold their house. Will the newcomers appreciate the big pear tree in their garden or chop it down???? Shall I contact the council and enquire about a preservation order.....?

I phoned the council. They will only consider a preservation order if the tree is visible from the road (it is not). Shame, this is a VERY big pear tree, the size of an oak!

Yes, put outside under fleece on 6/05/06, fleece taken off three days ago. The one that is producing fruit is the Jaguar and the yellow one has a tiny courgette on. I'll take a pic today if it stays dry enough to venture out.

Wow indeed! Mine are still in pots in the greenhouse, waiting to be planted out. And for the ground they're going in to be dug over!
Cheers,
Rob :)

I hate that situation. I get it every year; I've just had to dig a bed for the last of my toms. But there's less of it every year, and my aim is to get to the point where there are no perennial weeds left that need major digging, and I can just mulch, plant and harvest. One day!

I used carbord this year - the bed was dug the year before, covered with carpet since, carpet moved, mounds of manure then holes punched through a SMARTboard box (very big). Then with a bulb planter in they went. Hopefully they will be happy and produce lots of fruit - the only flowers I have so far are on the pumpkin and the butternut.
