A Mayday walkthru of my lottie
« on: May 03, 2006, 22:28:07 »
Have been taking some pictures for the wife so I thought I'd post them here as well.
See how many A4A tips have been used! starting my second year.

Walkthru of my allotment May 03 2006

The entrance lane and welcome to Colditz escape is impossible ... but as we found out last year breaking in isnt!

Entrance to plot 35 I share this allotment - everything to the right of centre is mine ... all mine hahahahahahah etc -

First building the newly built deluxe hen house (nearly finished) my proudest moment!

This is Custard one of 8 of our chicks, the others are fighting over worms!

Just to show they pay their way - yep back left is a double yoker!

lookin up the plot from the chicken shed I have >300Sq yards but not sure exactly how much

remember the how is your garlic growing thread - here's mine
Shallots are just peaking out to the left and the chives and sage are going mad in the background

looking down the plot the greenhouse marks half way - also when I ran out of blue tubes

One of my arches for runner beans another A4A tip - wonder if I'll be able to get thru'
BTW I'm stood in my neighbours leeks - she planted 100 last year and then disappeared leaving everyone untouched!

my greenhouse some compost bins and coldrames. Note an adaption of the A4A demi jon cloches

looking back from the greenhouse - anyone not fell asleep yet?

forward from the greenhouse - dalek 12 fruit bushes and another 6 beds!

The raspberry cage (if it grows outside the wires it gets cut off! and what to do with 250 bricks dumped on your allotment. The grassy bit is where the wife kids and dogs sit, picnic and watch me dig!

There's also a pond with slug munching frogs - took me ages to dig a hole deep enough as it was a bit rocky here. I know I know its a buried bath but the kids like it.

The view - soon to be obscurred by the jeruselum artichoke windbreaks A4A tip #49

cold frame #1 - I like lettuce one of every type!

cold frame #2 leeks and parsnips in A4A approved paper rolls

My shed in the distance - well half shed half greenhouse. Built it over winter in the worst weather imaginable!

That's about it except for

A nice reminder of what it used to look like this time last year  ... and Ellie one of our 3 rescue dogs

Apologies to non-broadband users - have just read the Please Please message and I hang my head in shame, will reduce the image sizes further.

Glow. When did you find the time to sleep? Great pics and what hard work has been put in to that plot. You really do deserve bumper crops this year. Thanks for sharing.
Lorna.

It's not that big because it's quite narrow, but it's a long walk with a watering can!

My wife would say that I spend all my time up there, in reality I spend all my time with another looty holder drinking and eating cakes ;)

What an inspiring sight - makes me long for a full size allotment. Mine is only about 100 square yards, including a large old apple tree, and no prospect of any more. The cold frames are wonderful - my lettuces are in the open, but I am thinking of making a sheltering frame. Very envious of your leeks too, as mine have not raised their heads yet.

Hi Glow,

Congratulations, your lottie looks absolutely fantastic! And now I'm deeply depressed as mine looks nothing like that... :(

Cheers,
Rob ;)

Why not use some of those pipes to to transport water to strategically placed water barrels?
