what I've dug up
« on: February 19, 2006, 18:00:17 »
I've been digging an area between some trees on my plot for a while now. We have taken down two trunks and left some in the corner. So now I'm trying to clear the area. What we thought was just brambles, nettles, couch and bits of plantpots has become a bit like archeology.
There is/was corrugated asbestos, glass, plastic bags, bits of seed trays and all the usual stuff I imagine you all have found.
We have also found a car hub cap, a VW badge, (still looking for the rest of the
car ;)) a grill pan, and today a babies shoe and a pair of ladies tights.
What on earth has been going on?

Oh, dear - you've unearthed a time capsule. That was meant for the next century!!

I had a similar experience in one corner of my plot. The only good thing was that I unearthed a pile of victorian edging tiles which had clearly been buried in time to stop the local kleptomaniacs nicking them while the plot was empty. I rapidly hid them again, and still have them sitting there. That reminds me, I should put them to use.
