What likes to eat celeriac
« on: September 21, 2005, 11:26:04 »
Something has been eating one of my celeriac plants. It has a large (gold ball size) circular hole on the side of the root or bulb. Is it likely to be a mouse? I have also noticed slugs on the stems of the celeriac, will they cause damage to the bulb?

It is strange because only one plant has been eaten, I'm concerned that whatever it is will move to the others when it's finished with this one. I lifted one celeriac yesterday but it's a little on the small side still so they will need a few more weeks to grow larger before lifting.

It could be a RAT? My lottie neighbour was exhibiting a prize spud (he could just hold it in his two hands) then turned it over to reveal similar chompage. He got the rat and showed us that too :-X

I've had chompage on a few of my spuds too, which I think has to be down to rats.
