EEEEEEEEEk  Get them in NOW!

THey need to be harvested as soon as the tassles show and ideally before they go brown!   If you do it now you may also get a second crop on each stem from where you harvested the first.  I'm on my third now!!!!

Oh heck Icy !!  Don't panic pet !!   ;D   D'you mean the tassles ?  At the mo' they're pink, not brown
And I've already got 4 or 5 per stem, so happy enough! But if you're really fretting, I'll cut one tomorrow!!   ;)   ;D

Yep!!  As soon as they have appeared - even a little teeny bit!   KIds here eat them like sweets.

If you leave them even until pink they can become very starchy

Mine are like yours MPD  :)  I thought you had to eat them when the tassels turned brown which is what I have done but only had one brown one so far.  Bit small but fantastic taste and texture  :)

Totally confused now!!!   ;D  Dottie P reckons they're not quite ready, Icy reckons they'll only be fit to feed the cows now, and Wardy says they're just right!!!  Hahaha!!   ;D

Here's what the biggest one looked like stripped of it's sheath! A 9 inch long mini-pop!  ::)  ;D

It does look a bit under done but mine looked like that and it was lovely.  I've only eaten one of mine and it was gorgeous.  Fed the rest of them but I've not picked any more yet as not been to plot but I think I'll have to get them picked as we're having frosts

lol  looks perfect to me Magpie, nice tight little kernels, no seperation and still fresh wih no browning!   he advice I gave was from the seed packet or seed website.

Agree on the taste, they are soooooooooo tender with a lovely sweet earthiness.

......found the seedback and it was the 'Top Tip' banner on teh back that said to pick them when the tassles first show.  Iain

I think you should pick em when the tassels turn brown.  Been to pick two of mine  today but they were unripe and no kernels at all in them.  The tassels were white.  I did think though that there was so much wrapping on these things that this must give them some protection against cold ?
